BTI reports decline in wash trading
Blockchain Transparent Institute has reported a drop of 35% in the global wash trading on cryptocurrency markets. According to BTI, the wash trading in September reduced by 35.7% among the top 40 exchanges. Kraken, Coinbase, Upbit, and Poloniex continue to stay the cleanest trading platforms. Among crypto coins, Bitcoin is wash traded under 50%, Ethereum around 75%, Ripple at 55%, and Litecoin at 74%.
Bitcoin escrow service charged with BTC fraud
Jon Barry Thompson, the head of a Bitcoin escrow service, has been charged with a $7 million Bitcoin (BTC)-related fraud by The United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The regulator reported in an official news release that Jon Barry Thompson of Easton, Pennsylvania is charged with “knowingly or recklessly making false representations to customers in connection with the purported purchase of Bitcoins worth over $7 million.” He is also accused of lying to the users about the location of bitcoins.
