Russian hockey player detained over crypto scam
Russian Ice hockey winger, Igor Musatov is charged for an $800,000 cryptocurrency fraud and sentenced to one month of imprisonment. The former player is accused of deceiving the CEO of an IT company while making a deal related to bitcoins.
Facebook executive declines Libra’s threat to monetary sovereignty
David Marcus, in a tweet, clarified that Libra is designed to improve payment network and doesn’t pose any threat to the fiscal sovereignty of nations. Libra has been under regulations since its announcement. David stated that they would continue to address the concerns of Regulators and central banks.
21-year-old Australian charged for million-dollar crypto scam
Jasmine Vella-Arpaci has been accused of 53 counts of fraud and thefts. Mother to an infant, the young scammer is reportedly charged for shipping millions of dollars through the use of cryptocurrencies. Although granted bail, Jasmine will appear before the court on 11th February 2020.

PwC has reported a fall in crypto and blockchain investments. When compared, the ICOs in 2018 raised around six billion dollars, whereas, the amount raised this year was rounded up to $346 million.Â
FATF orders crypto exchanges to disclose users’ data
Under FATF’s new guidelines, the crypto exchanges must unveil their customers’ data to other financial institutions if any transaction is equal or above $1000. With the implementation of this rule, the force aims to bring crypto trading platforms under the same category as traditional financial institutes.
